Portrait Art Tutorial How To Draw Hair

Creating Tangible, Touchable Hair

Hair is a tricky thing to draw. This is a start. I've gone for the portraiture, rather than the anime style. Anime would be an entirely different matter, lol. Right now, I am more concerned with straight portraiture. I'm SnapesAngel on DeviantART. I don't know if you've ever lurked there; but with what I'm working on, things like these links I post here are good things to work on, when outlining a story concept in graphic form. Some of the pictures I have up there now are character concepts that I'm working on for my story. Having a basic idea of what the characters look like, and then drawing pictures of them, can help me get to know the characters a little better. A lot of fantasy is in an unknown world, and being able to visualize some of that strange world, very alien inits right, helps when it's time to write everything. This also works for SF, too: if you don't know how an alien—your alien~—might differ from an accepted norm, well, that could hinder your writing. Even if they're only stick figures, drawing can help you block out a scene (what they call storyboarding). Not everybody works in this way, but it hlps some people.
