Since I decided that storyboards would be a good way to go, for at least sketching out some scenes in order ot visualize them better, sketching is a good way to go. In my story at this point, I also have Death Portraits that must be painted, quickly and efficiently. The social norm for that particular society is cremation, and having a Death Portrait for viewing, and to palce in a gallery (or in storage) of one's ancestors is also the norm. The higher caste of the society, of course, gets the social status of the superior artists, those who choose to become Court Portraitists. All who choose that particular occupation need some form of skill.
Ah, society building is fun, isn't it?

The yellowed "Going Out of Business" sign, frayed and crackled, seemed as if it would crumble into dust if you breathed on it. Most of the storefronts shared the same dilapidation.

Sketching (plus the obligatory catch-all that is dA)
I joined DeviantArt a while ago. Artists of all levels (even pathetic lil' ol' me!) are on the boards.
Anyway, I started gradual work on a portrait from Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's slow going, and I started the initial lines on paper and scanned it, but the image is now being worked on in stages, and updates are posted every time I get a visit from Mister A. Round Tuit.
The links below are the ones that talk about portraits, mainly, parts of the face, for this first post. I had to do this, since I'll be changing computers soon. The original LinksAPlenty has been rededicated for writing links, I have a Pagan version for if I run across anything of interest there: and this one shall be for creative endeavors of a graphic or a visual nature.
Yes, my bookmarks page. I share it because I hope that folks will also guide me to some links that might be good, that I have not yet seen.
We all want to improve, so maybe we can do it together. ;-)
